La historia de Get Thrashed empieza a principios de los 80, cuando grupos de jóvenes metalheads, provenientes principalmente de Los Ángeles, Nueva York y la Bay Area de San Francisco, sudaban en sus garajes dando forma a un estilo musical en el cual podían combinar, por fin, el heavy metal con la energía del punk y el hardcore. Ese movimiento, que se inició en el underground más absoluto, se acabaría convirtiendo en un estilo revolucionario dentro del heavy metal, consiguiendo tan solo unos años más tarde el éxito comercial gracias a la aporte de bandas como Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax o Slayer. En este documental viviremos en primera persona, a través de los protagonistas de aquellos inolvidables años, cómo pudo suceder que muchos de aquellos jóvenes con tejanos ajustados, cinturones de balas y marcas de acné, acabaran convirtiéndose en estrellas del rock.

Además de imágenes de conciertos y opiniones de fans, el documental cuenta con las declaraciones de integrantes y ex-integrantes de bandas como SLAYER, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, MEGADETH, OVERKILL, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, HIRAX, DESTRUCTION, SODOM, KREATOR, HEATHEN o THE HAUNTED, personas de compañías como Brian Slagel de Metal Blade o John y Marsha Zazula de Megaforce, y periodistas y escritores como Ian Christe, autor del libro “Sound Of The Beast”o el conocido DJ de la cadena de radio neoyorquina WAAF Eddie Trunk.
